Caucasian Shepherd puppies for sale in the UK
The first puppies of the Caucasian Shepherd or the Ovcharka were imported into the UK in 2012 due to the quarantine laws relaxation. Earlier the imported dogs were subject to a 6-months quarantine since 1897. The breed is not well known in Britain though demand is growing all the time.
There are some local UK breeders offer Caucasian Shepherd puppies for sale however not all of them can provide the proper breeding process, correct health testing, screening and the breed consistency maintenance.
Caucasian Shepherd breed has a long history: It’s one of the most ancient breeds in the world originated from The Caucasian Mountains, the former USSR and now Russia. The Russian kennels have significant practical experience breeding for the quality. Caucasian Shepherd dogs from Russia have stronger health and better exterior. Consequently the dogs gain excellent results at the dog-shows and exhibitions.

Dogs importing into UK is regulated by the rules:
1. Have an ISO-standards microchip.
The dog must be microchipped before vaccination against rabies. The microchip’s number must be recorded by the vet on the pet passport or veterinary certificate.
2. Puppies can be vaccinated against rabies
Vaccination can be made to the puppies which are aged at least 12 weeks. There is a waiting period of 21 days after the vaccination and only then the puppy or dog can be shipped to the UK counting the day of vaccination as day 0. Caucasian Shepherd dogs from Russia do not have to be blood tested. If you buy an adult dog its vaccination against rabies must be valid and not expired before entering the UK.
3. The dog or puppy must be treated against tapeworm
The dogs must be treated against Echinococcus multilocularis by a veterinary medicine with active ingredient Praziquantel not less than 24 hours and not more than 120 hours (1 to 5 days) before arrival in the UK. The treatment details (date, time, manufacturer and name of product, stamp and signature) must be recorded in the official veterinary certificate.
4. Pet passport or official veterinary certificate
To enter the UK from Russia the dog or puppy must have an official veterinary certificate confirming that the pet has been microchipped, vaccinated against rabies and treated against tapeworm. The dog must arrive in the UK within 10 days of the certificate being issued.
